Wear Orange: National Gun Violence Awareness Day

There will be a rally at Liberty Plaza on June 2, from 1-4pm. A police presence will be there, as well as street closure to prevent potential issues. There will be a sign language interpreter for all of the speakers.

Many groups will be there, including but not limited to: Moms Demand Action, Washtenaw Youth Initiative, Students Demand Action, Black Lives Matter, Black Student Union, Physicians Preventing Gun Violence, Sandy Hook Promise, Association of Religious Counselors, and Michigan League of Women Voters.

There will be at least six speakers, but up to ten. Activities include: face painting, and a make-and-take art project. Food will be provided.

1:00-1:30 - Power Playlist Music, 1:30-2:30 - Speakers will start, 2:30-3:00 - La'Ron Williams and Sacred Song Performances, 3:00-4:00 - Activities start

March for Our Lives Ann Arbor

On March 24th, students, parents, teachers, and anyone who wants to lend their voice and support will be peacefully protesting nationwide. We’re doing this for the lives lost in Parkland. Las Vegas. Orlando. San Bernardino. Newtown. The list goes on, and on. We’re marching in hopes this won’t keep happening, #NeverAgain. We’re marching for common sense gun control. We’re Marching For Our Lives.

Gun Safety Town Hall Meeting

AAPS board members, administrators, teachers, parents, students, and community members will be gathering at Pioneer High School's Schreiber Auditorium to discuss gun control and school safety. 

Dr. Jeanice Swift will be leading the meeting. Several WYI members and various other students will be discussing their personal experiences and their views on gun control and school safety. Questions and comments from the community are welcome.

March 3rd Die In

We will remember those lost in all our school shootings, and stand especially in solidarity with the most recent Parkland tragedy. This Die In will be to support the families and friends of victims, as well as to pressure local and state legislature to act to better our gun control law.
