The Washtenaw Youth Initiative will be hosting Michigan legislators and holding a discussion on the future of gun law and school/community safety in Michigan. Students will be speaking and moderating, and there will be time for community questions. Come and join us!
On March 24th, students, parents, teachers, and anyone who wants to lend their voice and support will be peacefully protesting nationwide. We’re doing this for the lives lost in Parkland. Las Vegas. Orlando. San Bernardino. Newtown. The list goes on, and on. We’re marching in hopes this won’t keep happening, #NeverAgain. We’re marching for common sense gun control. We’re Marching For Our Lives.
AAPS board members, administrators, teachers, parents, students, and community members will be gathering at Pioneer High School's Schreiber Auditorium to discuss gun control and school safety.
Dr. Jeanice Swift will be leading the meeting. Several WYI members and various other students will be discussing their personal experiences and their views on gun control and school safety. Questions and comments from the community are welcome.
We will remember those lost in all our school shootings, and stand especially in solidarity with the most recent Parkland tragedy. This Die In will be to support the families and friends of victims, as well as to pressure local and state legislature to act to better our gun control law.
